Knee deep in flowers

We took our unexpected day off yesterday and worked on wedding related things ALL day.

It all started by making up a playlist of songs we'd like to hear during the reception. Of course our DJ will fill in the areas we were lacking (ie dinner music), but if there were any specific songs we wanted to hear, he needed to know that. I think we ended up with a very random mix. But I guess that reflects both our personlities, since we like a lot of different kinds of music. And yes, he will be taking requests. But NO CHICKEN DANCE OR CONGA! Agh!!

Then we made the scary trip to Garden Ridge. I say scary because it's a huge warehouse full of crafty, homey, flowery things and I can't believe Jeff volunteered to go! I have to admit, by the end, I never wanted to see that place again. Plus, we spent enough money in there to last the whole year: some last minute ceremony decorations, parts for some of the reception decorations, mini tiki torches (for out backyard), etc.

After a quick break for dinner we pressed on in search of flowers. The ones I had purchased a month or so ago for the bouquets are no where to be found now, so I had to settle on ones very similar for the other ceremony decorations. Had I known back then we would be decorating the ceremony location, I would have purchased more. Oh well, it all worked out.

So last night I was surrounded by flowers and styrofoam cones making these little cone shaped thingies to hang on the chairs at the ceremony. Next comes the potted plant things to mark the 'alter' since we decided to forgo any type of arch type thing.

This hands on crafty stuff has definitely been the most fun part of the whole planning process. Forget the food and the music, let's have craft time! Ha ha! I blame it on my mother. ;) (Thanks mom!)

After our regrouping session, and a revised to do list, we're back on track and ready to party!

You are most welcome, dear. Glad to pass on my best traits. At least you did't get my feet!
