Rollin', rollin', rollin'

Jeff and I had a very productive day in Radford yesterday. Since we were finally able to get an appointment with Catering we decided to make the most of our day and get some other stuff done.

9:00 - Leave Richmond
12:00 - Arrive in Radford; check out Alumni Gardens and Heth lawn in search of ceremony spot
12:30 - Stop by Heth to talk with Sally, Director of Events in Heth, but she was in a meeting
12:30 - Lunch at Macados
1:30 - Meet with Barbara in Catering
2:30 - Go see Sally to 'reserve' Heth lawn & a room in Heth for the ladies to get dressed. We decided the Alumni Garden just wasn't big enough, so we're sticking with Heth.
3:00 - Check with Campus Police to make sure it's ok to have a van deliver & set up chairs for the ceremony
3:10 - Visit with the Academic Computing guys Jeff worked with; stop by Parking Services to check on reserving a lot, but the person we needed to talk to was not there
3:30 - Regroup
4:00 - Check out a chair rental place to see what they offer/pricing
5:00 - Visit a recommended photograper in Blacksburg
6:30 - Check with Spinnakers about potential rehearsal dinner location
7:15 - Dinner at Sonic
8:00 - Leave Radford
11:00 - Arrive in Richmond
12:30 - Sleep

So, as you can see, we are much further along now.

Barbara was absolutely wonderful. She is so well organized and has everything under control. All we have to do is email her our menu choices and she'll figure up how much food (ie small vs a large platter) we will need for a group our size. And she gave us a form to fill out that will have the timing for everything we want to do as well as all our vendor names so she can get everything coordinated.

So not only is she heading our catering she also acts as an on-site coordinator for the reception. From decorating the room to making sure we have a place to park in from of the buidling, she's got it covered. It's nice to finally have some confirmation on where we stand with them.

So I won't share too many other details since nothing else has been decided/finalized, but we've definitely got the ball rolling now.

Oh, and one thing you guys might want to know is that we've pretty much set the ceremony time for 3pm. Don't ask why, I know it's odd, I'm not even sure how we came up with it.

I think I remember Barbara from my event-planning days at RU. I'm glad things are starting to come together for you guys. Tell me you had some Salsa con Queso for me at Macados!!?? :)
