Students, make way!
Well, we decided to go ahead with our Radford plan. Not too keen on the whole student thing, but we'll see.
I'm debating on the suggestions to have an earlier ceremony because the earlier the ceremony is, the earlier the reception is. Does that mean the reception should end before dinner? If not, what do you do with people for so long? Since everyone is coming from out of town, I think it would be rude to end things at 4 and expect people to entertain themselves for the rest of the weekend. Any ideas?
Still haven't decided on an exact ceremony location. We want to check out the Alumni Gardens in person first, to see exactly how much space there is.
But we've tentatively booked the Norwood Room (Bondurant Center) for the reception. If Muse Banquet Hall is finish before October, we may have the option of switching it to there.
Jeff and I are going to Radford on Wednesday to meet with the caterers, decide on the ceremony location, find a chair rental place, and get any paperwork signed with RU. I hope we can get a lot accomplished in this trip so we don't have to make too many. Hopefully anything after this can be done by phone, email or fax.

After thinking more about it, I think you should just do the ceremony whenever and wherever you would like, because, when it all boils down to it, unless you're having a Catholic ceremony (which I assume not since you are doing it outside), the outdoor part of it is going to be 20 minutes tops and, like the weather, you can't control the uncontrollables. So, do what will make the two of you happy and leave the uncontrollables to a higher power.
...and you can always take photos anywhere around the campus together!
After talking to friends at work, everyone agreed that ya'll should not worry about what people will do after the ceremony if you have it early. that you should have it at whatever time is best for the two of you.
That's right! There's plenty to do for guests. We could even open our hotel rooms to have a pre-party party. ;) There's bisset park, the campus, claytor lake...tons of stuff to kill time if necessary!
(but for the sake of fewer possible interruptions during your ceremony, I think the earlier you do it, the better. Fewer students will be awake. The two unknowns in an outdoor wedding are weather and noise. Both affected M&L's wedding but turned out okay...could have been better, but definitely could have been worse!)
